About the memorial: The memorial organ with 3 brass plaques attached to it is located within the Baptist Church on Bell Street. It commemorates the eight men connected with the church and the school, and also a Roll of Honour listing the 63 other men who served and survived. The Church is located within a Conservation Area.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

You can save your Pre-application enquiry form as you go along. Once submitted War Memorials Trust will respond.

Plaque 2: ROLL OF HONOUR/MEN WHO HAZARDED THEIR LIVES/CONNECTED WITH THIS CHURCH AND/SCHOOL IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918/AS MEMBERS OF HIS MAJESTY'S FORCES/TO MAINTAIN THE SACRED IDEALS OF/CHRISTIAN CIVILISATION/ (63 NAMES)/1921 Plaque 3: The Memorial Organ/This organ is a War Memorial to the eight men/associated with this Baptist Church and its/Sunday School, who died in the First World War/and to the sixty three men who served in the/armed forces during that war. It was dedicated/at a special service on 5th May 1921. It is believed/to be the only War Memorial Organ in a Protestant/Church in the United Kingdom./The organ was originally built in around 1875 by/William Denman of York and is believed to have/come from a church in Yorkshire.
