About the memorial: The memorial in the village of Ferring on the West Sussex coast is a plain rough stone cross on a double plinth, the top plinth being of rough stone and the bottom being polished stone. It sits on a two stepped base, the higher step being of the same stone as the lower plinth. There are inscriptions on the front polished face of the higher plinth and on the front and side faces of the lower plinth. It stands in front of a garden of remembrance and a flagpole and is situated at a focal point in the north of the village, at the junction of Ferring Street, Sea Lane and Rife Way.
