About the memorial: From IWM: 'A Portland stone cross bearing a sword of sacrifice. The cross in designed in the manner of the churchyard crosses of the 14th Century and is on the South side of the church near the entrance to the churchyard. The plan is octagonal, 8ft in diameter, consisting of a calvary of three steps. On the uppermost is a socket stone with 29 names from this rises a carved and cusped base, supporting a shaft with traceried head or cap of tabernacle work with drop pendants. Total height from the path is 20 ft. Six panels of the socket stone carry the names of WW1 fallen in raised letters. The names and dedication are inscribed around the base.'
