About the memorial: Leslie war memorial sits at the east end of the High Street in the town. It was unveiled by Sir Ralph Anstruther on 30 January 1921. It records the names of those from the twon who fell in both World War I and II. The war memorial pillar sits on a two stepped base. At the top of the pillar each face has a symbol. On the west capital is a cross and the word sacrafice, on the north face is a saltire and the word endurance on the east side a shield and lion rampany are shown with the words grip fast and finally on the south capital is a sword for valour.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
