About the memorial: On the verge by the road, a slender Latin Cross upon a square plinth, the South-West face bearing the general commemoration, the other three sides bearing the names of the 12 fallen from WWI, the lower face nearest the road bearing the name of one casualty from WW2. The whole standing upon a two tier octagonal base, on a concrete platform surrounded by a low metal fence. Originally a Celtic cross, but when the memorial was damaged in a road accident on 19th March 1972, it was replaced by the Latin cross in 1973. There is a better photo of the original cross but that has proved impossible to find at present

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
