About the memorial: This memorial is situated in a cobbled area on the side of Footeran Lane on the boundary of the parishes of Yealand Conyers and Yealand Redmayne within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It consists of a simple Latin cross with a slight pattée to the upper and parallel arms. The front face is gently dressed to create a shallow border in relief that delineates the lower arm of the cross from the shaft, from which the cross rises. The cross is on a rough hewn block that sits on a two-stepped square base of rough cut stone slabs. A stone flower pot sits centrally on the front lower step of the base. A recent addition to the front face of the shaft block is a circular stone plaque that is inscribed. The whole is constructed of limestone. The memorial is bordered by a dry-stone wall in which are embedded inscription stones to the rear of the memorial.
