About the memorial: Although Miss B K Abbott at the Cottage donated the Recreational Field to the Town in 1920 in memory of the Dulvertonians lost in the First World War and those lost in the two World Wars are listed in the Church it was not until 2006 when the local Branch of the Royal British Legion organised a public collection that a suitable Memorial was erected between the Fire Station and the Police Station. The Memorial designed and crafted by local stone carver, Laurence Beckford, was unveiled by Major General Dare Wilson CBE MC DL FRG. Those commemorated are: First World War Ernest Baker (Castle Court), John Bristow (Higher Broford), Cecil Burnett (Lady Street), Edwin Chilcott (Castle Court), Robert Collyns (The Green), Charles Cording (Fore Street), Walter Court (Hawkridge), Archibald Farrier (Battleton), Frank Floyd (Perry Cottages), George Fyfe (Fore Street), James Giles (Lady Street), Sidney Goss (Battleton), James Gunney (Carnarvon Arms Cottages), William Hawkins (Highercombe Cottages), George Hobbs (High Street), Frank Johnson (no details), Albert Kingdon (Barns Close), George Lugg (Rosemary Lane), Fred Milton (Lyncombe Farm, Brompton Regis), Edward Murphy (no details), Fred Parkhouse (White Horse Inn), Sidney Roberts (Hawkwell Cottage), Herbert Rudd (High Street), John Sanger (Oldways End), Humphrey Sydenham (Battleton House), Isaac Saunders (Fore Street), John Tarr (New Inn), Cecil Tee (Rosemary Lane), Edward White (no details) and Francis Williams (Castle Court). Second World War Henry Chapman (West Hele, Jury), Roy Chilcott (Milhams Lane), Gilbert Farmer (Battleton), Albert Herniman (no details), John McFadzean (High Street), Walter Saunders (The Castle) and Clarence Stone (no details). In addition it also commemorates those lost on the sinking of HMS Dulverton in 1943. Memorabilia from the ship are displayed in All Saints Church.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.
