About the memorial: Hinxton war memorial is a freestanding granite Celtic wheel cross and is located on the junction of the High Street and Church Green. The cross and shaft sit on a tapered stone plinth. The front face of the cross and shaft is dressed and recessed. The front face of the cross bears an interwoven Celtic knot-work design in relief. The front face of the shaft, the plinth and plinth base step are incised with the inscriptions which are painted black. The rear face of the plinth is also inscribed. The memorial is enclosed by a raised stone curb and granite bollard at each corner which are connected by a metal rail fence; the ground around the memorial is covered with gravel. The memorial is dedicated to those killed in World Wars I and II

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
