About the memorial: Warrington war memorial is a large obelisk dedicated to those from Warrington who lost their lives during the First and Second World War. The memorial includes a series of bronze panels recording the names of those who lost their lives. In 2017 work started to investigate the riverbank to the north of the war memorial which has started to collapse. Warrington Borough Council are planning to stabilise the riverbank following the end of the centenary and also improve disabled access to the rear of the war memorial. Further details and updates on the project can be found at www.warrington.gov.uk/Cenotaph. This project was completed in 2019. There are two new identical tableaux at the front of the memorial created by local Schools. There are also 5 new benches to the left of the memorial area-numbers 2 to 5 are identical. See also WMO/135814 for the Burma Star Association Plaque. See also WMO/301450 - The Marshall Gardens- a new memorial to Private Daniel Wade, lost in 2012 in Afghanistan.
