About the memorial: War Memorial plaque on a stone memorial set upon a brick base. The memorial originally formed part of the Edmonds Park memorial garden (WMO/302157) which was created in 1950. It was subsequently moved to outside the council offices on Broadway in 1960. Following vandalism it was subsequently relocated to the Civic Hall in the 1970s and finally to its current site within Smallbone Recreation Park in the 1990s.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

The Memorial has inscriptions on three sides Inscription 1: This Plaque is dedicated to those of Didcot who made the supreme sacrifice in the 1914-1918 war. Inscription 2: This garden of remembrance is dedicated to the men of Didcot who made the supreme sacrifice in the second world war 1939-1945 Inscription 3:In remembrance of all those who made the supreme sacrifice for our sovereign and country at home and overseas.
