About the memorial: Inside the church on the left hand wall of the nave.An ornate marble plaque, with an arched frieze, depicting in relief, a sinking ship, the words: A Deathless Story, beneath. The arch supported on either side by marble pillars, standing upon a shelf base, in the centre of which is a circular emblem of the XIIth Foot, depicting its battle honours. Within the tablet, on a white marble plaque, are listed in black incised letters, the names of 55 men, all Privates, of the 12th Foot, who were drowned when HMS Birkenhead sank on 26th February, 1852, all arranged in alphabetical order, preceeded by their initials.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
