About the memorial: Situated in a small square, a wheel cross surmounting a tapered pyramidal base upon a square plinth. The commemoraton and the names of the dead to WW1 commemorated around the sides of the plinth: those to WW2 upon the lower lip below the plint. The 44 who died in WW1 are listed alphabetically, giving first name, any other initials, surname, and decorations where applicable: no rank or unit are shown. The 15 who died in WW2 are similarly listed. The whole upon a three-tier base, upon a pavement enclosed by a metal fence. The Memorial was reinvigorated in 2014 as part of the WWI centenary commemorations. It was re-dedicated by The Rt Revd Jonathan Meyrick, Bishop of Lynn on Monday 7th July 2014. An additional name was added which had been omitted previously. The following is part of the text from the booklet prepared for that event: "The War Memorial was constructed by Arthur Lincoln of Snettisham, and dedicated in the 1920s. He was the father of the Charles Lincoln who is named on the Memorial and his great-great-great grandchildren Freya and Theo are taking part in today’s ceremony. Some three years ago it was decided that the War Memorial was in need of considerable work to restore it to its original condition. The panels were eroding and the names becoming illegible. The imminent centenary of the outbreak of the Great War was an additional incentive. The panels with the names of the fallen of both World Wars and the dedications have been replaced in Nabrizina marble. Additionally, the base, made of local carrstone, had worn away to such an extent that it was putting the stability of the Memorial, made of Portland Memorial Stone, at risk. This has now been replaced. Finally the whole area has been improved by the painting of the railings around the Memorial and the crossing. The Council wishes to thank the following for their generosity: Frimstone Ltd for the donation of the stone, Ridgeon’s for transport and materials, and the craftsmen Jeff Milner, Aaron Rate and Paul Ames for their work on the stone base. The renovation of the panels was contracted to M.B. Howell. We should also to thank James Lees and Peter Everingham for their kind permission to use their research into the history of those listed on the Memorial. During this research it became apparent that there were one or modifications which were able to be incorporated in the renovation work. In particular Walter O Smith had been left off the Memorial completely, apparently on the insistence of his parents who refused to accept that he had been killed. His name appears on the memorial at Feuchy in France, and he now is rightly listed in Snettisham; ironically, this only became apparent after the panels had been engraved – hence his name, even now, is listed out of order! His name is also, therefore, the only one to be engraved by hand." Copies of the booklet which gives details for all those named on the memorial are available from the Parish Council.Listed Grade II, list entry 1456813.
