About the memorial: Standing on the north side of Fore Street, a castellated, three-story granite clock tower, surmounted by wooden tower weather vane, all enclosed by a low granite wall on three sides, accessed from the front by a metal gate.The memorial plaque stands within the tower behind a wrought-iron gate. The domed plaque commemorates the names of 39 men who fell during WW1, listed alphabetically, also listing first names, decorations were appropriate, and units. No ranks are listed. Below, on an additional plaque are listed the names of 17 men who gave their lives in WW2. The memorial is Grade II listed. (Note: The War Memorial Roll of Honour in the Holy Trinity church lists 55 names for WW1 and 26 for WW2.) (Note: Of the WW1 names, memorial plaques to F. R. Avent and J. Martin are on the walls of St Day Old Church; and W. Ham, J. Letcher, E. R. Mottley, R. J. Penhallurick, P. Rogers, W. S. Simmons and R. Wills are buried in CWGC graves in the churchyard at St Day Old Church. Of the WW2 names, a memorial plaque to E. R. B. White is on the wall of St Day Old Church)

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.
