Setting: Within a garden/park/churchyard/enclosure/Marketplace
Description: Board/Plaque/ Tablet
Materials:
  • Stone Stone (any)
Lettering: Incised
Conflicts:
  • First World War (1914-1918)
  • Second World War (1939-1945)
About the memorial: Two stone memorial plaques featuring the North Yorkshire Police badge at the top centre. War Memorials Trust believes that one of the plaque is for the First World War and the other for the Second World War. However, the inscriptions are currently (July 2013) very difficult to read. War Memorials Trust believes that the plaques were originally located in the North Riding Police Force HQ on Racecourse Lane, Northallerton, but were relocated to Newby Wiske Hall when the police force made the hall its new headquarters. When the memorials were relocated, they were originally erected in the entrance hall to Newby Wiske Hall but were subsequently moved to the garden with two other memorial plaques.
