About the memorial: War memorial. Dated 1905. By GF Bodley. Contrasting stone with slate commemorative panels. 2-stage octagonal column raised on high stepped plinth and crowned with crocketed lantern. Plinth is buttressed at each corner by monolithic block, one incorporating dedication panel. Both stages of column are supported by 1-stage buttresses with crocketed pinnacles, upper ones tied back to lantern as flying buttresses. Lower stage incorporates engraved panels framed in moulded mullions and transoms: upper stage has standing military statuary beneath crocketed ogee-arched canopies. Carved cornice with gargoyles beneath lantern of paired trefoil-headed lights. Octagonal finial. c Historic England listing entry

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
