About the memorial: Situated in the centre on the village, St. Nicholas Church is on Cumberworth Lane and in close proximity to the local school and Post Office. Description – The Memorial plaque is a stone situated on the outside front wall of the Church towards the side entrance. The period commemorated is 1914 – 1918 and 1935 - 1945 There is also a Memorial window in the Church which reads as follows:- To the Glory of God and in memory of those of this Parish who died in the Great War. 1914 – 1918 and whose names are on the adjoining tablet There are also four War Graves in the Church graveyard with details of those who made the ultimate sacrifice in World War 1 and World War 2. The photographs of these graves have been removed as they are not war memorials.
