About the memorial: A statue of an angel holding a sword on top of a four sided plinth which bears plaques with names and inscriptions. The WW2 names were added after the Town Hall Closure (which was feared at the time to be permanent) in 2010. The new WW2 panel has CALLENDAR W. WATSON. The original memorial in the Town Hall, the Dryfesdale Parish Church memorial and all other civilian and military records have WILLIAM W. or WATSON CALLANDER. Two litter bins and 2 seats have been added during the WW1 Centenary outside the Town Hall (opposite the memorial). There is also new metal edging around the base.
