Tablet Inscription:- The lower tier of the above lights was filled with / stained glass in 1888 by the Corps of Royal Engineers / to the glory of God and in memory of / Major General Charles George Gordon CB / killed at Khartoum 26th Janry 1885 Also of / Captain F J Romilly and Lieutenant E M B Newman / killed at Tofrek, Lieutenant W B Askwith killed at Suakin and 31 noncommissioned officers and 74 men of the Royal Engineers / and of the Queens Own Madras Sappers and MIners who fell / in the Egyptian and Soudan Campaigns 1882 to 1885. ~~~~~~~ East (left) window inscription:- THIS LOWER TIER OF WIMDOWS WAS FILLED WITH STAINED GLASS, 1888 / BY THE CORPS OF ROYAL ENGINEERS TO THE GLORY OF GOD ~~~~~~~ Centre window inscription:- AND IN MEMORY OF MAJOR GENERAL CHARLES GEORGE GORDON.
