About the memorial: Erected 1947 by Port Line Ltd. Unveiled by Lord Royden. Designed by Mr George Mansell Physical Description Six panels broken down into various sections:- 1.Shore staff who served in the forces and on special duties - London offices, Sydney office, wellington office, decorations:shore staff. 2. Sea staff who served in rnr & on special duties. 3. (a) ships lost. 3. (b) sea staff who gave their lives in port line vessels. 4. Prisoners of war: sea staff 5. Decorations: sea staff 6. The names of ratings who gave their lives whilst serving in the ships lost or in captivity as prisoners of war. May 1999: paper record only found in cunard archive in liverpool university. Whereabouts of memorial itself unknown. 455 People on the Memorial 'Served and Returned' 155 People on the Memorial died.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.
