About the memorial: Sandstone celtic cross raised on limestone base. The sandstone cross is in two sections – a four side pedestal and the upper column surmounted by a truncated Greek style flared cross. The lime mortar is slightly eroded at joint between base and column. There is a stress crack to the west face of the base of the cross (assumed to be caused by wetting and drying and freeze-thaw cycles). On the south west corner there is a deep chip and a repair with a hard, dark colour mortar.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
