About the memorial: In the Churchyard, on the left, just inside the lychgate. Limestone Cross on a 2 shallow step base. Nearby there is also a modern (2013) slate interpretation board (slate donated by the nearby Burlington Quarry) on 3 slate legs in a slate walled compound with slate chippings giving full details of the casualties, and where they lived in the village.Dedicated Easter Day (4th April) 1920, in 1918 the lychgate was also erected as a war memorial (but there is nothing on it to record this). There is a booklet inside the Church giving biographical details about each casualty. This also identifies the following additional casualties-WW1- Sep Clarke, William Pennington Robert Shuttleworth & John Robert Warriner

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
