Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

Before applying for a grant you should read the advice available on War Memorials Trust`s website. The What we can and cannot fund helpsheet explains what types of work the charity can fund.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

You can save your Pre-application enquiry form as you go along. Once submitted War Memorials Trust will respond.

(Plaque) H.M.S. SHEFFIELD WAS LAUNCHED BY H.R.H. PRINCESS MARINA, DUCHESS OF KENT/ ON 23RD JULY 1936. SHE WAS THE FIRST SHIP OF THE ROYAL NAVY/ TO BEAR THE NAME OF THE CITY WHOSE INDUSTRIES CONTRIBUTED MUCH TO HER BUILDING BY VICKER-ARMSTRONG AT NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE. A CLOSE LINK EXISTED BETWEEN THE CITY AND THE SHIP. THE SHIP, A CRUISER OF THE 'SOUTHAMPTON' CLASS WITH A MAIN/ ARMAMENT OF TWELVE SIX INCH GUNS, WAS FIRST COMMISSIONED IN AUGUST 1937. HER BATTLE HONOURS DURING THE SECOND WORLD WAR WERE: NORWAY 1940 SPARTIVENOT 1940 ATLANTIC 1941-3 'BISMARCK' 1941 MEDITERRANEAN 1941 MALTA CONVOYS 1941 ARCTIC 1941 - 3 NORTH AFRICA 1942 BARENTS SEA 1942 BISCAY 1943 SALERNO 1943 NORTH CAPE 1943 THE SILK WHITE ENSIGN AND THE UNION FLAG ABOVE WERE FLOWN ON/ CEREMONIAL OCCASIONS AND THE ENSIGN, WHICH WAS MADE AND PRESENTED BY THE LADIES OF SHEFFIELD, WAS FLOWN AT THE PEAK AS THE BATTLE ENSIGN WHENEVER THE SHIP WAS IN ACTION AGAINST THE ENEMY./ WHEN THE SHIP FINALLY WENT OUT OF ACTIVE COMMISSION THESE FLAGS WERE PRESENTED TO THE CITY OF SHEFFIELD AND WERE/RECEIVED BY THE PROVOST AT A CEREMONIAL SERVICE ON 23RD JUNE 1963 FOR SAFE KEEPING IN THIS CATHEDRAL CHURCH
