About the memorial: Stands at a meeting of paths within Victoria Park Tipton. There are no names on the Memorial. The names are displayed at Tipton Library Owen House 17 Unity Walk Tipton DY4 8QL (181916) The original WW1 plinth is elaborately lettered with a smaller WW11 stone below. The tapering column above is made up of 4 blocks of some plain stone or concrete and has possibly been replaced or added later as it looks out of place with the ornate stone base. in front of the memorial is a plaque to Corporal Joseph Davies who survived the conflict but is commemorated for being awarded a Victoria Cross. . Above the inscription is a carved Victoria Cross. The date on the plaque is of the action leading to the awarding of the Victoria Cross; Joseph Davies survived the war and died at the age of 87
