About the memorial: At the north edge of the village, near the church. See the Link for background details. Stone base rising to plinth with inscription and regimental bagde. Sculpted bronze figure of the Earl with arm outstretched pointing into the distance. The Memorial refers to the Cameronian Regiment (26th Foot) which was raised on 14 May 1689 and disbanded on this spot 12 May 1968.
