In 2016, WMT gave a grant towards this war memorial. As it has been a number of years since the grant was given, we would like an up-to-date condition survey and photographs to be added to this war memorial record. Can you help?

About the memorial: The eight bells dedicated to those who lost their lives during the First World War. They were paid for by public subscription and are rung by means of a keyboard(clavier) attached to the bell clappers by wires. They also operate as chimes for the church clock The bell system has been refurbished 2017 with repainting of bell fame , refurbishing existing clappers, inserting new electromagnetic clappers and a wifi control panel at ground floor level enabling the bells to be played without climbing the hazardous stairway and allowing pre-programming of chimes of the bells if required

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

On commemoration plaque:The peal of eight bells in the tower of this church was subscribed for by the parishioners of Hornsea as a thank offering for peace and in grateful remembrance of those who fell in the Great War 1914-1919 December 1919
