About the memorial: Tablet dedicated to Sir Henry Sullivan who lost his life at Bayonne on 14 April 1814. Tablet with incised inscription and straight fluted pediment. A carved relief panoply of canon, sword and wreath surmount the pediment. The whole is mounted on a grey triangular topped backboard.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

You can save your Pre-application enquiry form as you go along. Once submitted War Memorials Trust will respond.

SULLIVAN, OF THAMES DITTON, BART/ AGED 29./ HAVING SERVED THROUGH THE WAR IN SPAIN AND PORTUGAL./ UNDER THE DUKE OF WELLINGTON./ HE FELL AT ITS CLOSE BEFORE BAYONNE, ON THE 14TH OF APRIL, 1814./ AT THE MOMENT THE ENEMY WERE DRIVEN BACK TO THEIR ENTRENCHMENTS./ IN HIM THE ARDOR OF THE SOLDIER/ WAS BLENDED WITH THE MOST CAPTIVATING AND REFINED MANNERS/ AND HE UNITED TO THE PRACTICE OF EVERY SOCIAL DUTY,/ THE FIRM BELIEF AND HOPE OF A CHRISTIAN./ BORN 31ST OF MARCH 1785.
