About the memorial: Plinth surmounted by figure of soldier with bowed head and obelisk. Plaques with inscriptions are fixed to the plinth. IWM Register - A freestone obelisk standing on a series of four octagonal steps, and surrounded by wrought iron railings. The bronze memorial tablets are set into the stone pedestal faces which project out from the four sides. A bronze soldier, head bowed and arms reversed, by Glasgow sculptor Kellock Brown is set at the front of the monument (Brown executed the same figure for the Penpont memorial). The memorial stands on a rise in Morton Park. In 2011 the name of a Korean War casualty was added. The commemoration is carved on the stone shield at the base of the obelisk. Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.
