About the memorial: War Memorials Trust has decided that this record should contain all the elements of this collection. Not everything within this HMS Hood collection is a war memorial - the key element which would fit that description is the Book of Remembrance. However, as it sits within the wider collection everything has been left together on the record. This record is connected to the IWM War Memorials Register record for the Book of remembrance (see Links). For more information about the collection see the Links to the church website. As indicated in the photograph of the information boards, the shrine was organised by the widow of Vice Admiral Holland in the absence of any other memorial to the loss of the Hood during the pursuit of the German battleship Bismarck. It would seem that additional items are added from time to time such as the models and the plaque. Within the Church there are also benches that commemorated HMS Hood see WMO/214596.
