About the memorial: Limestone memorial from 1921, restored 1991. Iona cross with sword relief, tapered shaft, pedestal and base. Bronze plaques on two sides and another for WWII. Dedicated 20 December 1919 by Prebendary Farrer, Archdeacon of Wells (Wells Journal, 26 December 1919, p 2), which adds: "The design, execution, and fixing of the cross was entrusted to Mr. T. Mills, the well-known monumental sculptor, of Wells, and to him much credit is due for the production of a dignified and suitable memorial. The Gothic cross, which was fashioned out of Doulting stone, stands 15 feet high, and being erected in the Church garden facing the road, occupies a most suitable site. From moulded steps the cross rises, surmounted by a wreath, whilst down the vertical shaft is carved a sheathed sword, emblematical of peace. The angles of the shaft are moulded, terminating with carved crockets. On the front of the base steps on a gun-metal plate, is the inscription: "To the Glory of God and in ever grateful memory of those of this village who fought, and of those who died in the Great War 1914-19:-- Percy Dawton, Gloucester Regiment; George Pitman, Somerset L.I.; Douglas Rose, Somerset L.I.; Harry Rose, Somerset L.I.; Wilfred Richards, Somerset L.I.; Alfred Richards, R.H.A.; Sydney Smith, Somerset L.I.; Alec Spry, Queen's Westminster Rifles; John Vincent, Somerset L.I.; Harold Wilson, New Zealand Contingent. Their name liveth for evermore. Eccles. xliv. 14." On the other side of the plinth is another plate giving the following names of those who served in the war:-- T. Beale, C. Burtenshaw, A. Brown, H. Brown, W. Brown, A. Bishop, A. Beveridge, F. Bincham, G. Bincham, A. Cardwell, R. Chapman, F. Church, A. Clements, A. Clements, E. Clements, F. Cook, H. Dempster, V. Gunning, R. Gould, H.
