About the memorial: An oak lych gate with a tiled roof and with wooden name boards and a crucifix. The lych gate is constructed of heavy oak timbers and has open framed gates at the centre. The upper part of the north side is panelled and bears a carved wooden crucifix with inscriptions on the front and sides. The crucifix is flanked by two oak boards bearing further names. Two further oak boards are attached to the corner struts on the west elevation and these bear a further inscription. Another inscription is placed on the inner face of the east roof beam. The incised and gilded inscriptions are in mixed case upright roman lettering. The board on the right strut also bears an incised depiction of the badge of the Royal Sussex Regiment. It is on the east side of the road at the entrance to the new graveyard. According to CWGC the parents of William Bernard Shaw lived at Brighton,

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

You can save your Pre-application enquiry form as you go along. Once submitted War Memorials Trust will respond.
