About the memorial: Unveiled on 31 October 1920 attended by: Col. W. H. Ames. Octagonal sectioned tapering foundation work supporting a two-stepped octagonal base surmounted by a two-stage, square sectioned plinth with two arched side faces on the upper plinth stage. Rising from the plinth is a moulded lower-edged, square-footed octagonal sectioned tapering shaft, moulded octagonal boss and a terminal-armed cross. Parts of the base section originate from an earlier Village cross. The whole memorial stands within a gravelled area partially surrounded by a tall fence and a recently planted hedge. The main material for the memorial is Lower Jurassic Hornton marlstone. The cross measures 7 ft in depth,15 ft in height and 7 ft in width.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.
