Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

MAJOR RICHARD CHAWORTH-MUSTERS, 236 BTY, 78 AA REGT., RA (TA), M.C. (1917),/ LATE NORFOLK REGIMENT (1896-1941) Citation: Major Richard C-Musters' Military Cross [London gazette, 14th September 1917]./ "Lt. (Acting Captain) Richard Hammond Chaworth-Musters, Norfolk Regiment, for conspicuous/ gallantry and devotion to duty in commanding his company under heavy shellfire. He led with great/ courage and disregard of danger to the attack of a strongly held concrete redoubt, capturing there 28 of/ the enemy and a machine-gun. He set a splendid example to his men." Major Richard ("Dick") Hamond Chaworth-Musters, M.C. (Military Cross), 236 Battery, 78 (1st/ East Anglian) Anti-Aircraft Regiment, Royal Artillery (Territorial Army), was the elder son of George/ Chaworth-Musters (1869-1932) [buried at Morston 14th May 1932 by Bishop M. S. O'Rourke, grave/ #10S&E] & Mabel ("Marjorie") Violet Chaworth Musters (1866-1948) [buried at Morston 18th/ December 1948, grave #10S&E]. His parents lived at Field Dalling ca. 1917-1926. He died on 31st/ December 1941, at Brigg, Lincs, when serving in the above active-mentioned active service unit, and/ was buried on 3rd January 1942 by Rev. E. M. Philips, Rector of Bale, at All Saints', Morston, just south/ of the east end of the church. He is described as "of Coastguard House, Morston", where his parents then lived./ (photo)/ Dedication: Major Richard Chaworth-Musters' and 2Lt Roger Chaworth-Musters' father, George Chaworth-/ Musters, was buried at Morston in 1932. Their sister Joan (b. 1907), who married "as of Coastguard/ House, Morston" (1st) the Rev. H. Harrison and (2nd) Ben Parry, died ca. 1950. In 2002 when the dining/ room flooring was replaced at Coastguard House, a "time capsule" with a Chaworth-Musters Family/ Tree was found under the old floorboards. This must have been left by Mabel Chaworth-Musters, who/ lived at Coastguard House after her husband's death in 1941, until she died in 1948.
