About the memorial: A cased book of remembrance. The book has paper pages bound in blue leather with a tooled gilt title in sentence case gothic lettering on the front. The explanatory page is in black upright capital roman calligraphy and the illuminated title page has a finely produced design, mainly in blue, including a wreath at the head, the shield of the Belper Urban District Council in red, blue and gilt at the foot, a broad border of sprays of laurel and an inscription in black and gilt upright capital roman calligraphy. The 55 pages of names each have a thin blue margin with a geometric design in each corner and five names in black upright mixed case roman calligraphy. The card case is bound in blue fabric with a tooled gilt title in sentence case gothic lettering on the front. The Chapel was made redundant as a Church in the 1970's and was converted to be the offices of Belper Town Council and the Heritage Centre. In 1974 Belper Urban District Council was abolished, so the book devolved to Belper Town Council who arranged for it's safekeeping by the Belper Historical Society. The bronze plaque referred to in the wording of the book's introduction is WMO/270399. The book is in storage, an appointment is necessary to view it.
