About the memorial: A four-light stained glass window in the East end of the church, with elaborate tracery in the arch above the lights. The flags or emblems of the Allied Nations are depicted in the glass in the tracery. The central lights depict the risen Christ with two adoring angels hovering to one side. Beneath are two stricken knights in armour with spears and shields, one wears a laurel wreath. Red pennants fly from their spears, with SPQR emblazoned on them. The left-hand light depicts St George standing victorious over the dragon, and in the panel below St George is depicted on horseback slaying the dragon. The right-hand light depicts St Michael, winged and in full armour. In the panel below Jesus is depicted with two Disciples, against a background of fishing boats - probably illustrating their being called from being fishermen to become disciples. Henry Tyrer, the donor, was a shipping broker - so perhaps there is an allusion to the employees who are commemorated having been called from their jobs in the shipping trade to serve a higher purpose in the war. The inscription is written at the foot of the two outer lights.
