About the memorial: A number of trees, of unknown species, planted at various locations around the grounds of Bemrose School. Altogether 124 trees were planted for for various reasons; some were to commemorate the coronation of HM King George 6th, some commemorated former pupils, house captains or staff, but an unidentified number were to commemorate former pupils of Derby Municipal Secondary School, which predated the renaming of Bemrose School. Each tree was accompanied by a metal label, now unidentified, bearing the name of the person commemorated, and a 'permanent' register, also now unidentified, was to be kept in Bemrose School. These complement the main WW1 memorial for the School, recorded as WMO/291454. The School had moved to this location in 1930, and renamed as Bemrose School (subsequently having a possessive 'The' added to the school name).
