About the memorial: An oblong resin plaque on a metal post. The grey mottled plaque has a photograph of Corporal Greaves at the head, a depiction of a Victoria Cross at the foot and a bevelled edge. The applied inscription is in gold capital and sentence case block lettering. The plaque is in the garden of remembrance (WMO/248777) on the perimeter of the site, to the east of the actual stadium.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

CORPORAL FRED GREAVES VC/ 9th Battalion, The Sherwood Foresters (Notts and Derbys Regiment)/ 1890 - 1973/ The only North Derbyshire born and bred man to be awarded the Victoria Cross,/ the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry./ Fred, later to become a Sergeant, showed extreme bravery on October 4th 1917,/ at Poelcapelle near Ypres, disabling and capturing an enemy machine gun post./ FOR VALOUR
