About the memorial: Anniversary: A framed plaque (made of synthetic material) on a sandstone backboard and base. The oblong plastic plaque has a black inscription in upright sentence-case lettering on a white ground which details the history and development of the site during and after WW2. The plaque and its wooden frame are mounted on the vertical face of a monolithic circular sandstone backboard which surmounts a sandstone ashlar base and steps. The full text on the plaque explains that Spitfire aeroplanes were manufactured here in WW2, and that the estate was later converted to civilian use, for a variety of businesses.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
