About the memorial: Brass memorial plaque to Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Howard Foulkes, Indian Medical Services (IMS), killed by tribesman in his bungalow at Kohat, India on 15 Nov 1920. The plaque was originally placed in St Augustine's Garrison Church, Kohat. After the Partition of India in August 1947 the memorials to the Punjab Frontier Force erected in garrison churches in Indias were relocated in 1951 and installed in the Parish Church of St Luke's, Chelsea, London. The memorial was later mover to the Indian Army Room at Sandhurst.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

You can save your Pre-application enquiry form as you go along. Once submitted War Memorials Trust will respond.

In memory of Lt Col Thomas Howard Foulkes, CIEIMS, ADMS Kohat District, killed by raiders 15th November 1920, and of his wife Bertha Bowness, died 6th December 1920 from wounds inflicted in the same raid. Erected by their many friends in India.
