About the memorial: A rectangular glazed-framed Roll of Honour, with the crests of West Mercia Constabulary's 6 heritage Forces across the top. Beneath are three columns, listing WW1 and WW2 casualties from Worcester City Police, Worcestershire Constabulary, Shrewsbury Borough Police and Herefordshire Constabulary. At the foot of the second column is the West Mercia Constabulary badge. Beneath the three columns is the dedicatory inscription. N.B. For unknown reasons, this WW1/WW2 Roll of Honour omitted the names of Kidderminster Borough Police’s three WW1 casualties and of Shropshire Constabulary’s nine WW1 casualties; it also omitted Herefordshire Constabulary's Special Constable William Constantine Walton and Shropshire Constabulary’s Special Constable Alfred Hill, whose deaths in the line of Police duty were a consequence of WW2. The Roll of Honour is therefore not a complete list of all West Mercia Constabulary’s World War casualties. (A separate memorial of matching design hangs near the Constabulary's WW1/WW2 Roll of Honour. That other memorial commemorates West Mercia Constabulary officers who died in the line of Police duty between 1849 and 2011; whilst it is a Police memorial, not a war memorial, it does include some officers whose death in the line of Police duty was related to war or terrorism).
