Location: Internal
Setting: Inside a building - public/private
Description: Board/Plaque/ Tablet

About the memorial: Rectangular brass memorial plaque; lettering is extensive and incised. The panel is decorated with two insignias- the first, on the upper left hand side is of the 5th Dragoon Guards; a galloping horse sent into a roundel, surrounding by the words ‘VESTIGIA NULLA RETRORSUM’- ‘No retreat’. A crown tops this orb. On the upper right hand side is a version of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers which has a motto underneath it, though this is unreadable from the photograph. The plaque is otherwise undecorated. John Norwood served in the 5th Dragoon Guards and received the Victoria Cross for gallantry in the face of the enemy. He is recorded as having fallen at the Battle of Marne. John Norton Norwood served in the 4th Royal Inniskliing Fusiliers and is recorded as having succumbed to wounds he received in the Battle of the Somme.
