About the memorial: The war memorial in the town of Baughurst, in the north of Hampshire near the border with Berkshire, commemorates the fallen of that village and also of nearby Heath End. It is a Portland stone cross with moulded ends which stands on a slim pillar. The pillar is on an octagonal plinth on a three-stepped base. The front face of the plinth carries an inscription; two faces of the plinth are inscribed with the names of the fallen of the Baughurst and two other faces with the fallen of Heath End. In front of the plinth an angled tablet has been inscribed with the names of the World War II fallen. The memorial stands in a square gravelled area behind low hedges on the corner of Brimpton, Wolverton and Baughurst Roads.
