Comments:
Ringwood Town Council, as owner of the War Memorial Gardens which include the memorial, commissioned a detailed condition survey from Sheerinbettle Architecture in July 2018. This confirmed significant deterioration in the inscriptions on the WWII tablet and various defects in the stone elements requiring work. The memorial also needs cleaning, especially to address staining from the bronze sword. Listed building consent has been obtained and application has now been made to War Memorials Trust for a grant to part-fund these works. It is hoped to arrange a re-dedication ceremony after completion of the work to mark the centenary of the memorial in 2021.
