Comments:
General condition is poor. the whole memorial is dirty and has significant moss covering. Seven of the eight upper panels relating to 1914 - 1919 appear to have been cleaned to make names easier to read but one is still dirty and obscured. the lower panels relating to 1939 - 1945 have not been cleaned and are very difficult to read and the incisions have deteriorated. The base of the memorial is covered in moss and leaf mould making it hazardous and the raised area facing the road is cracked and crumbling. The area to the rear of the memorial is obstructed by overhanging vegetation. It is surprising that the memorial is in this condition as the nearby village church of St Eadburgha contains a plaque with the names of the WW1 soldiers, the names of the WW2 soldiers are inscribed on the organ, and there is a book or Remembrance, all of which are very well maintained.
