Comments:
Front-facing: The more recent marble panels with the names of the fallen are in good condition with legible script. The surface of the stone on which the marble is laid is crumbling and in need of repair to ensure the panels remain affixed. Both sides of the memorial are in very poor condition with large patches of the outer sandstone slabs having crumbled away, this needs swift intervention to prevent further damage and instability. The back of the memorial is in poor condition. The "Altar of Remembrance" lettering is somewhat legible as the letters are defined but the paint has faded. The inscriptions either side are not legible due to condition, size, lichen, and pollution - specialist cleaning and repair is needed immediately. The top of the memorial is in poor condition and crumbling. The surrounding garden area is well-kept and paving slabs have been replaced where dangerous.
