The monument is built of limestone blocks, set on a bluff on an area of common. The site is set above the A48, a busy road in the Vale of Glamorgan, and commands views over the surrounding area. The blocks are somewhat weathered, but it looks in good condition, including a wreath roped down to the stone to stop it blowing away.
