Comments:
Updated 1 September 2022- NO CHANGE ON ANY OF THIS REPORT- Overall the condition is fair. Would benefit from some pointing and making good of the rather uneven base surface. The lettering is rather weathered, especially at the top, but remains legible, even if not well legible. Currently [November 2020] the Parish Council are not looking for any remedial works. The local sandstone does not weather well and it is unlikely the lettering could be recut in the existing material. It should also be borne in mind that there is another memorial in the Priory Churchyard, which was seen at the time as the village memorial, this one being essentially a personal project. The names are also commemorated on a plaque inside the Priory, where there are also copious research files into the men, which is also on the Parish website
