Tommy has benefited from a recent conservation exercise. He has been carefully cleaned by hand by specialist masons, the base stones have been repointed and the lettering repainted. The stone is much improved in terms of colour - it had previously been quite dark but the cleaning has restored the natural colour of his stone. However, he is still very weathered and his detail remains at risk due to the soft nature of the stone, hence that this rating has remained at 'fair'.
