Restoration of the memorial was carried out as part of WW1 centenary commemorations by Bilston Remembered, a community interest group, with grant assistance provided by the WMT. The following works were completed by 9 November 2018: Steam cleaned to remove algae; Bronze sword cleaned and waxed; Smart Water applied to bronze sword; Damaged sections of plinth replaced with Portland stone to match existing; All defective and loose mortar removed from joints and repointed with lime mortar.
