Comments:
Overall the condition of the memorial is good but some of the lettering, especially for some of the WW2 names at the base, is becoming difficult to read due to weathering effects, including moss and lichen growth. It has been well looked after since the War Memorials Trust grant in 2015 (see link). The memorial itself and the surrounds appear to be very well tended. The area is clear of litter and tidy. The surrounding railings appear complete with no obvious peeling paint or damage. The sandstone plinth, column and cross forming the memorial seem secure with no evidence of movement or cracking and there are no missing elements evident. There are no deep cracks or missing mortar from the joints. There is no damage caused by vandalism or graffiti. There are no access restrictions.
