Comments:
The monument itself is in fair condition but it is located under the canopy of trees and becomes green as a result. There are no known plans to work on the trees. The lettering is in need of restoration and resetting and the monument needs to be cleaned. The highest priority would be to repair the uneven flagged area around the monument and upgrade the edges. The people of Padiham are celebrating the 100th year of the park and memorial construction this year. A grant application to the War Memorials Trust is being submitted by Burnley Borough Council and supported by Padiham Town Council and the Friends of Padiham Memorial Park, in order to clean the memorial, re-letter defective wording, and make the flagged area safer to walk on.
